I see that nobody has replied to my question, so I assume that the answer is either very simple or it is just that nobody can explain it. Anyway, I couldn't find anything about it in the documentation. So the question is, why does Cocoa overrule the value I try to set by using setMinWidth? Does it calculate an invisible limit based on the contained views?

Given the behavior I observe in Interface Builder, it seems that a window's smallest minimum width is whatever size will still allow for the three control buttons and the window's title to be displayed. I haven't tried it programmatically, but I suspect the behavior is the same, given how IB works. I suggest you look along those lines for an answer in your specific case.

Serge
