Q1: How can I tell if the graphics cards in my systems will support the new
features of Core Image? One system has an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro, and the other
an nVidia GeForce FX 5200.
On apple.com it claims the following cards are "GPU programmable":
ATI Mobility Radeon 9700
ATI Radeon 9600 XT, 9800 XT, X800 XT
nVidia GeForce FX Go 5200
nVidia GeForce FX 5200 Ultra
nVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL, 6800 GT DDL
I'm guessing that my 9600 Pro is not a 9600 XT, and my FX 5200 is not an FX
Go 5200 or FX 5200 Ultra. Running "Cocoa Image Fun House.app" for instance,
I notice that it does nothing at all to the images.
Q2: Are the supported graphics cards available anywhere, or are these
special Mac-specific cards that I have to buy through Apple channels? Is
there a driver component as well?
