We're not ruling it out, nor is it "painful" - it's just early in the
design process to play around with details that might not make it to
the final product. A plain old "vanilla" button does the trick for
now and lets us focus on the functionality and flow of the interface
- we'll worry about polishing it later.

*and if you are ruling out doing additional work why not look to
those who do [by Googling], such as third party offerings like
Jiiva's ABC framework, which has a hyperlink textfield amongst
other included widgets. Then you need only do drag, drop and
configure in IB, which is what it appears you are after.
