Hi Steve, It's quite simple; set the "unified title/toolbar look" for the window in IB.

However I notice that in Tiger, Mail and XCode, and probably some other native applications, appear to have a new style window texture for the background of the toolbar that causes the toolbar to merge into the title bar. How is this accomplished?
