I have searched the mailing lists, documentation, etc, etc, but
haven't found an answer to this question.
I have a GUI application that controls another background
application. I thought it might be nice if the user could glance at
the application icon in the Dock and tell whether or not the
background application was running. If the first application is
running, of course it can alter its dock icon based on whether or not
it detects the background app just as Mail does when it downloads new
mail.
But what if my GUI application is not running? If the user has made
its icon persistent in the Dock, is it possible for the background
application to access this icon/dock tile and alter it? I could
search the Dock's plist for my application, but I'm not sure having
found it what I could do, if anything.
Thanks for any insight,
Don
