It's a backup nib, in case the one you are working on decides it doesn't like the location of the moon. If you are checking into a version control system, you'll want to set an ignore or whatever on that file.

I have a nib file called MainMenu.nib and a file called MainMenu~.nib seems to get created.

I keep thinking it is some kind of intermediate file that does not need to be put under source control. Is this correct?
