That sure sounds like bug (or at least Apple should document that
the class is not thread safe). I think that you're right that the
cache is the problem.
You should never assume that something in any of the Apple frameworks
is threadsafe unless it is explicitly stated otherwise (except
perhaps NSLock ;-)
