Do the documents acquire the icons if you duplicate *them*? It may just be that Finder is performing some aggressive cacheing. Did you specify the same file name extensions or type codes in the Info.plist as your files actually have? Make sure that the files don't have a hidden suffix after your suffix that they had before.


Also, if another application uses the same extension, it's perfectly possible that that app's icons override yours. Unless the user explicitly sets your app as the default. If you want just some files to be assigned to your app, give them your app's creator code.

There's also a Launch Services cache somewhere that you could try removing
