Thank you. I also found some information here:

I am obviously a victim of my own ignorance, but I am persevering :-).
1. IBWindowPboardType allows dropping onto the Nib file window, but not a
Window.
2. IBViewPBoardType allows dropping on a Window but not the NIB file window.
3. A standard customView can be dropped onto either.
Could this mean that there is an undocumented IBxxxPboardType that allows
dropping on either?
