There should be no problem in doing that. It's what I do for simple animations that I want to update as controls are tracked (I use a custom UI and often drop into local tracking loops).


I think the only thing to look out for is a potential performance issue in receiving events while tracking if your animation is expensive. I've read that somewhere recently, but cannot remember if it was in one of Apple's docs some mailing list archive.
