That approach is bad, unsupported and you shouldn't use it.

Since I wrote that, I'll chime in that it's a better idea to do it with the Apple code that was posted rather than messing with the plist file directly. As I said in that message, the autolaunched applications could easily be moved to a different plist file, or even not saved in a plist file. Bad idea to rely on it being there. Or even staying in the same form. I really should have stressed that a bit more in that message.


Hmm, though that code wasn't even about placing items into the autolaunch dictionary, as the original poster was asking.
