I've been reading through the archives and everyone says that it's so slow to the point of being almost unusable in an app with alot of images.

I've been searching around and can't seem to catch a link via google or apple developer site on this one. I have a view that needs to display the actual icons of a file, not the contents of the file themselves. Kinda like how Pixadex or Iconbox have a tableview of rows and rows of icons. Any ideas?

How about:

    -[NSWorkspace iconForFile:]

Check the list archives for more info.
