Apple Event Model to register for click on finder menu item

Hi

 I am trying to access event when user clicks on finder's menu preference
item.

Is there any mechanism thru which my application can register as listener
for Apple events generated by Mac os x? So when user click on menu items of
finder, I can call my application.
