I'm having difficulty reproducing this with similar data; it may be triggered by some combination of conditions, possibly the precise combination of text and the size of your text container. If you have a reproducible case, I'd like to see it. For example, if you could write the text out as RTF and reproduce this in TextEdit, that would be especially interesting; if not, perhaps you can extract a small sample application that can reproduce it.
