Check the layout of the AudioStreamBasicDescription referred to
above, and get whatever info you want.

If this can not be doen using QTKit, I assume I must can use the
quickTimeMedia method of QTMedia and dive deeper inte the C API. I
have browsed the documentation, and googled on this as well, but to
no avail. As that would be off-topic, a nice hint to where to go if
that is the only option would be nice.
