Ah good point. So I removed setHidden from the calls, and just set the stringValue of the textfield to nothing and it works the way it should now. I do find it odd that hidding a view does not make it disappear though. Hide to me seems very invisible. My bad, I should have researched the setHidden function a bit more before I started using it.
