I'm not sure why you would want to do this. The spinning wheel is expected behavior if your app is busy and not responding to input (as it would be when your splash screen is up). A quick look at other apps with long load times confirms this:


Apple Logic Pro: Spinning wheel on splash screen.
Apple GarageBand: Spinning wheel on "initialize" screen.
Adobe Photoshop: Wristwatch on splash screen.
Adobe Illustrator: Wristwatch on splash screen.
File Maker Pro: Spinning wheel on splash screen.

I suppose you could always display a wristwatch like Adobe, but that looks very 1980s to me. The spinning wheel is the wristwatch of the new millennium! It seems to me your app is already behaving as the user would expect it to. If it ain't broken...
