- Thread-topic: suppressing the scod at startup
My core data app takes a long time (30 seconds, let's say) to load its data
on startup on slower machines. I'm not in charge of what happens after
"prepareContent" gets started, but I have put up a splash screen with some
animation to give the user something to look at, and I don't put up my real
window until all the data is in place and the interface is ready to work
with, so I'm pretty satisfied with the app's initial dance. My question now
is whether I can suppress the spinning cursor of death that appears during
the startup operation. Is there a simple way to do this? The main thread is
busy with doing whatever prepareContent is doing. m.
