Unfortunately, no. (Apple really needs to provide an API, framework, something for this.)

What most people do (including myself) is to write one's own
crash catcher and kill-off Apple's.

The chat application Adium does this. Look at its source code.

Alternatively, there are some good prepackaged solutions like Unsanity's Smart Crash Reports and M. Uli's UKCrashReporter.
