I agree completely of course. Generally, Mac OS X apps should not have installers. Unfortunately, Apple is not a good example in this area - as they use installers for everything (or close to) they release. Bad Apple!

I just do not agree with this. Apple is doing the right thing. I will try to keep it short since it has already been discussed in the past. The pro arguments for using Installers even for just a simple one bundle application are:
- permissions are correctly set and they can be fixed if needed by Disk Utility. Not a perfect solution, but a good solution.
- you can remotely distribute it with ARD.
