how to select a nstabviewitem index

Hi to all,
I have a nstabview with some nstabviewitems.
I need to know the nstabview index knowing the identifier.
ie nstabviewitem identifier = hello world!
int index = [myTabView indexOfTabViewItem:[theTabViewItem identifier]];
but this not work.
I cannot find nothing in the sample code and docs too....
Any idea?
