I should add that you don't get the complete iLife media browser for
one application at a time, like iPhoto or iTunes.
Saying that a Jeep looks like a Hummer is like saying "The Beatles
kind of sound like Oasis."

The short of it is this. Start Automator, choose "Ask for Photos"
and then save it as an application. Run it and you'll get the iLife
media browser. Apparently the same can be used for iTunes using
"Ask for Songs."
If I'm repeating anything here, I apologize but I'm just amazed
that this is such a simple task for Automator yet a burden for
cocoa developers.
