How to create "pressed" effect on custom rounded buttons (like Safari bookmark)

I have custom created a rounded button much like Safari's bookmark button.
However, I'm unable to create the etched in effect on the button when it is
pressed down, like it does in Safari. I've tried using shadows and
offsetted paths to no avail. Any suggestion appreciated.

Eric
