Well duh. Obviously you'd only want to do that in order to support a
protocol that's *not* already easily shell-accessible.
This is completely not what the original poster wanted. He could
just use ncftp and be very happy.
The OP only mentioned FTP as a hypothetical example.
Believe me it would be great to have Finder extensions à la M$
Explorer, I would be able to do some things that I cannot do at the
moment and that only make sense from within a GUI environment.
The fact that things are done differently on a Mac doesn't mean they
cannot be done. If there's a particular task that you don't know how
to do on a Mac, ask here (or a more appropriate list, if it isn't
Cocoa) and I'm sure you'd get some help with it.
