While your app is running you could have a look at Apple's UI Element
Inspector tool. Not ideal for the job, but it should give you an
idea what's going on.

Are you aware that Interface Builder will show you the view
hierarchy with pretty much exactly the information you requested ?
See the two icons above the right hand scroll bar in a nib document
window ? Press the other one to see an outline of the window and
view hierarchy.
