I think I know what the problem is then, and if I'm right then the
problem actually lies in the Finder. In the Finder create a duplicate
of the icon-less application you built with the makefile. If the
duplicate gets the correct icon then it was all the Finder's fault,
and there's nothing you need to do. If the duplicate doesn't get the
correct icon then there's some more tricky problem.
I copied the application and it did get an icon, so the problem is a bug in the Finder. What can the make process do to work around this problem?
