OK, it does not seem to revolve around anything in ~/Library . I
got rid of the complete ~/Library directory and logged back in (I
actually did a cold boot start as I also removed some stuff from
StartupItems in /Library and /System/Library -- WebObejcts,
FronTbase, OpenBase -- just in case).
I started mail, safari, ichat, xcode, and IB. IB still had the
issue. I quit XCode and IB (still running) loses the issue and
starts working.
Have not yet been able to reproduce on my intel mini.
Am going to try more extensive tests using a different login
account as my earlier testing may not have been sufficient.
Next installment of the ongoing saga.
The issue does not seem to be directly related to the ~/Library of
the logged in account. I got totally rid of the ~/Library (hence all
prefs, caches, etc) and the problem still persists. I also copied ~/
Library to another account and logged in using the other account,
with the same ~/Library as well as with a separate Library. The
problem does not seem to happen with the other login account.
With the affected account, I do not see any login items or apps
running at startup or log in, that are not standard ones. I would be
happy to look for anyone's guesses though.
I can get the problem to happen as simply as logging in and
immediately launching my project in XCode and then running IB. But
when I quit XCode, leaving IB running, the problem goes away. If I
have more apps running, I start quitting them and after a couple apps
are Quit, then the problem goes away and IB starts behaving.
The issue does not seem attached to a specific Nib file. It happens
in multiple Nib files and with newly created ones. XCode does not
have to be running.
I have not hot-corner keys for Dashboard and Expose.
I have no input methods selected in the International pref panel
except the fault US one (not US extended).
Universal Access stuff is all turned off/inactive
Someone offlist suggested I run DiskWarrior and Cache Out X. I have
not done this yet. I need to find my DiskWarrior disk and then
decide if I want to take the chance :-) Cache Out X requires some
funky forum registration so I did not yet download that.
I am guessing some sort of window server interaction (?) but do not
know enough to make any sort of tests.
Nothing obvious shows up in system logs
TIA
Chad
