Is there a way to replace the horizontal line image for the NSMixedState state of a NSMenuItem?

Actually, the question is in 2 parts:

o According to the archive, there is a bug in the - (void) setMixedStateImage:(NSImage *)image; API (which would not be surprising considering the comment attached to it ("// horizontal line by default?" (sic)). What is the official workaround?

o The idea is to be able to display the diamond "mark" which is used when a Window is miniaturized in the Dock. Is there a way to access this "diamond" image? I can certainly create the image with Photoshop but if it was accessible through an API, it would be better IMHO.
