If you really want to see how different collation can get, set your
collation order in International Preferences to "Hawaiian."

In the international pref pane there is an option to select sorting
options. I am not sure exactly what the differences are between
those, but you can perhaps imagine that there are different rules
for sorting: e.g. depending on capitalization or not, wether a
prefix is taken into account or not, are å, à, á, â treated the
same as a or not etc.
