Make sure you hire an interaction designer if you want to do
something like this... It is very tricky to get right. A good
interaction designer will know where these effects are appropriate
and where they cause problems in your application. If you can't
afford an interaction designer, and you are unsure whether an effect
is right or not... I would error on the side of the standards (i.e.
don't include a custom effect). You can also ask about this on the
Mac-Gui-Dev list.
Thanks,
Jon

Hi Everyone.
I am a developer who is interested in the user interface very much.
I bought an AppleTV recently and am deeply fascinated by the
elegant interface.
Both the AppleTV and FrontRow operation interfaces are the
masterpiece of Apple, so I am thinking whether we can adopt some
GUI elements from them. For example, the crystal-glass-like
button in the FrontRow and the blue fluorescence button of AppleTV.
My idea is coming from some well-unknown third-party frameworks
which can create stunning GUI for your cocoa application. So maybe
it is possible to realize it.
Maybe this question will violate some agreements of Apple, if so, I
will never ask it again. And if someone here know some interesting
third-party GUI framework, would you please share it with us?
Thank you in advanced. Cheers.
