There are definitely TrueType fonts which exist in the resource fork.
(Almost all pre-OS X TrueType fonts.)
They aren't valid TTF files but they are valid TrueType fonts.

That doesn't make any sense - TTF isn't a resource format; most of
my TTFs don't have resource forks at all. Are you sure that's
actually a TTF and not an old-style Mac font (NFNT)?
