View Layers

Hello everybody,

There's something I don't understand about view layering in Cocoa. Everywhere, on the web, on the documentation, you can read that Cocoa does not support view layers, that putting a view in front of an other does not ensures it will be drawn in the correct order, that it might work well for someone and not for someone else, and that's true, it even happenned that it work for me and suddenly no more (still for me).
I know that if I want some kind of layering I must use the superview/ childview hierarchy.
So why are there the "Bring to Front" and "Send to Back" menus in Interface Builder?
It's just non-sense to me.
