how to use the "small icon menu" in the main menu bar?

I want to make my program tiny , so I prefer to use the "small icon menu" at the right side of the main menu bar which is located on the top of the screen.

Many application adopt the technology. They dont have the big menu at the left side of the main menu bar. Instead, they just display a tiny icon . When you click it, the function menus show up.

How to do it with the Interface Builder or other things? Thanks for any reply.
