No additional work, and the person asking the question is more likely to come away with a feeling that, while they were off topic, someone at least directed them to a place to find a more appropriate forum.

The 'appropriate forum' is often not available on lists.apple.com. It's not the moderator's (or list members') job to be a personal googler.
