I've been trying to learn about creating threads and how to pass
messages/status between them.
I hope to eventually have an appilcation where I have a background
thread that puts up window
and shows the progress of traversing a directory and doing specialized
cataloging of files and folders.
I've seen code snipets that show thread creation and bits of
inter-thread communication using "ports"
but I'm hoping some one can point me to some complete examples of
thread-ing code that has examples
of status/update messages from the "child thread" and
control/termination messages from the "parent".
If my request is too newbie for this list, I'd be open to
suggestion on
sites, books, and other resources
for learning cocoa and objective-c.
