ScreenSaver Shell?

In the 'old' days of After Dark there used to be a 'ScreenSaver Shell'
in which you could develop and run screensaver modules. Useful for
debugging and a lot quicker than a compile/deploy/test cycle. Does
such a thing exist for OS X?
