In the 'old' days of After Dark there used to be a 'ScreenSaver Shell'
in which you could develop and run screensaver modules. Useful for
debugging and a lot quicker than a compile/deploy/test cycle. Does
such a thing exist for OS X?
try this (one-line) command in Terminal:
/System/Library/Frameworks/Screensaver.framework/Resources/
ScreensaverEngine.app/Contents/MacOS/ScreensaverEngine -background
It'll run the current saver behind the desktop as long as the
terminal session is open.
