What is "CFBundleTypeName"?

  • Subject: What is "CFBundleTypeName"?

I can find plenty of examples of its use, and docs that say it's required, but nothing actually explains what it is. Inferring from the values I've seen in examples, it can be any string one chooses. However, many of the examples use values that look like they could be the names of actual types (e.g. class names) in code somewhere.

Can someone tell me what this should be, and how it's used. And, for bonus points, what document on the dev site actually explains it?

The same can be said of some of the related plist keys.

TIA,

Rick
