Can a Controller to accept key down event?

Hi everyone.
After finish reading the Cocoa event programming document, I got a doubt:
In a simple application, I create a controller to implement my application logic. I want the controller to accept the key down event. This task seems very simple, but I am still a little messed up by the huge document.

Can anyone provide a simple example or any guidance? Thank you very much for any help.
