Converting CGPath from CGImageRef

Is there a way to convert a Bitmap image or Image mask (created as a CGImageRef) into a Path (opaque CGPath)?

I have been using masks and images as way to handle selection areas in a drawing program. It works fine for fills and other operations, but the dotted outline of a CGPath looks better as a selection.

Any help people could offer, thanks in advance...

Steve
