My NSTextView will have fixed font.

If your font is truly fixed width, you can probably just set the NSTextView frame so it exactly fits 32 characters on a line...

This approach won't behave correctly when character substitution is applied (for characters that aren't in the target font). Depending on the situation this may or may not be an issue.
