Just so there is no mistake.
Discussion of the removal of creator codes, merit of creator codes,

I donâ•˙t have a suggestion for a better location for you to

I am sorry to have used such a controversial subject as "Creator
Codes".
I am not interested in discussing this (well, I am interested, but if
it is off topic, then it is ok).
So to rephrase my question under a (I hope) less controversial
subject:
One can set an application to be used by some document by selecting
this document in Finder and doing File â∫‚ Get Info â∫
‚ Open With.
How can the same be done programmatically?
If the document is a file, Finder will add a 'usro' resource which
contains the absolute path to the application to be used.
Thanks to Alistair who pointed me to: <http://sutes.co.uk/2009/09/creator-codes-are-not-replaced.html
>
And if the document is a folder (e.g. like myDocument.rtfd) then the
Finder adds a file called .LSOverride which contains the absolute
path to the application to be used.
Problem solved.
Kind regards,
Gerriet.
