[iPhone 3.1] Core Animation that leaves a trial?

Hello, all ...

I'm interested in having a CAKeyframeAnimation leave a "trail" i.e. imagine the image of a pencil being animated across the screen -- I want to draw a path of where the pencil has been along with the animated pencil. However, i'm not sure how to do this, since Core Animation is doing the drawing for me. If anyone can offer some pointers, i'd be quite appreciative :-)

Regards,

John
