Some of us need to ask questions properly. You explicitly said, "Is there a recommended manner to accomplish this?". I told you where to find the recommended use of NSSegmentedControl. Then in a later note you said "I want to do this whether it's recommended or not." Fine, but that's the exact opposite of your original question.
