Thanks.  I'll keep that in mind.

For now, it seems as if application-specific notifications sent from the cells on single and double taps, combined with ignoring the select in my UITableViewDelegate, will work in a way that's more obvious, given my current level of knowledge.

I'll take a closer look at your suggestion when things blow up.  :)
