To be pedantic: You _can_ customize the title of the app menu at build time, by changing the CFBundleDisplayName property in the app’s Info.plist. (You can also change this in the strings file for the plist if you want the value to be language-dependent.) This is pretty commonly done for apps that have long titles; for example, Google Chrome shows just “Chrome” in its app menu.

What you _can’t_ do is change the title at runtime.
