If Apple is planning on removing 32-bit support in the near future, they will be partly to blame for any rude surprise to developers. You can talk all you want about reading the tea leaves to determine the time of 32-bit's last breath, but not every developer is doing that. The ones who aren't, but are consulting the porting guide, have a different understanding of the situation.

In my comments about developers relying on the recommendations of the porting guide I am not talking about ME - duh! So please no one tell me again how I've been told it's wrong and am ignoring that at my own peril. The point I continue to make is that any straggler thinking about migrating to 64-bit, and not aware of this discussion, will only see what the porting guide currently states, which is that you may not want to move to 64-bit. I am not sure how much more plain I can make this.

The docs are so big that I'm sure Apple doesn't keep track of every page that needs updating and some like this one may not be editable easily without giving up their plans. Since Apple is well known not to give away their plans, reading tea leaves is what a good Apple Dev should do. Nonetheless, file a bug on the docs - they might at least remove it.
I am not going to do that. There are lots of Apple folk on this list who should be taking action, if action is warranted. If the situation is as dire as claimed, they should be scrambling to get it fixed.
