Flatbed scanners vs Pro Photo CDs

  • Subject: Flatbed scanners vs Pro Photo CDs

As a photographer, I have been using Pro Photo CD scans to turn out
portfolio prints, with generally great results. Occasionally, I'll get a
drum scan done for images with tricky tonal ranges or a lot of shadow
detail. Now, I'm thinking about buying a flatbed and would like the
list's thoughts and recommendations about what's currently available in
the $1000 range. How would the results compare to the Pro CD scans
(dMax, etc.)?

My system is a Power Tower Pro 225, X-rite calibrated Applevision 750,
an Epson Photo EX and I'm working in Bruce RGB still in Psp 5.0.2.

TIA
