Am I correct in my belief that the 7500 and 9500 both use the same inks as
the 2000? In which case surely you will have a hell of a job coping with
the metamerism issue?

Profiling these printers (and the 2000P) isn't any special issue. I've done
it with many other products (ProfileMaker Pro, Monaco Profiler, ColorBlind,
Color Visions ProfilerPro). These products can make very effective profiles.
The problem is the metamerism of the inks and what that does for your lovely
profiled prints OUTSIDE of D50 lighting. What makes you think this new
software will do anything differently?
Hi Richard + Andrew,
Unfortunately, I am unfamiliar with the Epson 2000. Do you mean the HP2000?
I am very sure that the DYE based ink used with the HP is very different
from the PIGMENT/DYE fast drying ink used with the new 7500/9500 Epsons.
Seemingly, this INK was specially formulated to enable the EPSON to print at
the rated 6.9 SQM per Hour. In other words it dry's faster. I do also
believe that it Has certain UV resistance qualities as well.
The point I was trying to make was that the ink's, the way they mix, causes
them to "Separate" when you put more than 180% of a possible 400% down on a
Photo Glossy stock. The resulting effect of mixing this type of INK OVER
180TD is indeed "Metamerism" outside the D50 Light to which you refer along
with any other lighting condition you can throw at it. With this in mind,
there is currently NO PROFILER (Andrew), including my Favourite MONACO, that
will deal, properly, with 180 TD. The resulting profiles at 180TD, with all
Profile packages I have worked with, cause serious anomalies in separation.
It seems that the Praxisoft package intends to address this problem and more
than anything, I would like other people to acknowledge this as well.
By the way, I do agree that all the profilers you mentioned are capable of
producing quite reasonable profiles on the Epson 7500 and 9500 devices;
However, I hope you now agree that I was not simply trying to evangelise
Praxisoft's profiling claiming superior results over other profilers. The
Praxisoft product I refer to has not been released yet and any statements
made about the product itself are subject to a great deal of change. This
does not take away the above fact and I trust that anybody reading this
opinion shall make equal effort to ensure that the product manufacturers
read this and apply this functionality to their software in the coming
months. In truth, Andrew, Profiling is a Voodoo Science and with so many
variables out there it is all we can do to keep up.
