I recently tested prints from the Frontier embedded with Kodak's
ProPhotoRGB versus sRGB and the difference was clearly in favor of
sRGB. Other Fuji vendors have specified sRGB as well.
Unfortunately, my lab didn't have a clue about the important
differnce until seeing my test.
I have been working with several Frontiers as well.
The workflow appears to support sRGB as well as "unspecified" input -
at least it will. At this time it will only allow input of sRGB
images but it has the provision - to be activated in future versions
- for the input of non-sRGB images. Presumably these could be images
that could take full advantage of the device gamut that were already
converted using a profile.
The thing I found that was interesting was that the data and the
gamut did not conform very closely to sRGB at all. The gamut is a
very different shape - this does not surprise me at all as "real"
sRGB is a working space. But the data also does not seem to conform
to sRGB at all. ie: any RGB values sent to the Frontier do not
produce Lab readings that are any where near RGB:Lab from true sRGB.
The Frontiers seem to produce good output overall and offer an
effective automated printing solution but I don't see how Fuji can
call it sRGB.
